HP Pavilion dv3-1075us Laptop User Review:

Pros:

HP Pavilion dv3-1075us is a GREAT laptop. I got it because it is small and lightweight I am a student and I wanted something I could take to work with me to do my school work. So far this little guy is great. I like that you can turn the touchpad off. That comes in handy when I am using MS office. The HP on the outer lid lights up and that’s pretty neat.

This laptop comes with a powerful AMD Turion chip @2.1GHz with 4GB RAM (standard) vs. the Intel Atom @1.6GHz with 512 MB RAM (typical in any netbook, currently). Wireless connectivity is a snap and it comes with the 802.11n standard for much faster access. Ethernet is 10/100/1000 capable.

This HP is very quiet, as far as heat goes, it has been mostly lukewarm to warm.

This HDMI was a major selling point to me because it allows me to use the technology available from my monitor.

Even though it is only 13.3" in size, the keyboard is very comfortable to use and don’t feel any compromise for the small footprint. It is well designed, very modern, sleek and elegant. Not to mention so light-weight.

This was the only Laptop that had 3 USBs. I love the way the keyboard lights up in low light conditions.

Cons:

The speakers are not great, but then I never use them. The only con to this laptop is the hard drive.. it is a bit on the noisy side.

HP Pavilion dv3-1075us Laptop Other Thoughts:

The fingerprint reader could be better. Not a big concern to me.

All in all, a great buy and a solid mobile laptop computer. I was really hard pressed to find a better deal in the market today that comes pre-loaded with this many features and performance. I used it on a plane trip last week and it’s easily the best performing and least invasive laptop I’ve used on a trip.

I received this computer yesterday. I love it. I’m not a computer expert and I got it up and running in a few minutes. Easy to use. I was a little leary of Vista having heard about problems but have encountered none so far. My old laptop was a hulk and I had run out of disk space.

HP Pavilion dv6-1030us Laptop User Review:

Pros:

Nice size screen, plenty of RAM-great performance and nice to have a number pad on a laptop.

HDMI output is a great addition, card reader etc. Solidly built as well and not too heavy.

Easy set up; added software with no problems; looks great. I bought this for my wife whom has much less computer experience. She is pleased with it’s performance; with our high speed cable internet(3gbs) she has been surfing without complaint. Gobs of memory for her to put all her pictures on it. Good price for all it’s atributes.

Sleek, fairly fast, comes with Vista 64bit to take advantage of the 4Gb memory.

Comes with a remote that goes in the card slot. Bluetooth works out of the box and is easy to use. The built in webcam is surprisingly good.

There is a slot in the PC that holds the mini remote control. On the left side of the laptop. Cool! At least I think so.

Cons:

The touch pad is shiny metal like chrome and it leaves fingerprints and smudgies.

I find the screen resolution to be lacking for a 16" monitor. The highest res you can get on the DV6 and what this has is only 1366 x 768, it should be available in the 1600 x 900 resolution display like Sony has.

Battery life ok, not great, ca. 2hr. with typical powersaver settings, probably significantly less if you watch DVDs.

Hard drive speed is 5400RPM, 7200RPM would be nice.

HP Pavilion dv6-1030us Laptop Other Thoughts:

I like the Onyx color very much.

HP Pavilion dv6-1030us laptop is much better than my previous laptop! Our family has almost exclusively had HP Pavilion computers! I am very impressed with this laptop! The features on this laptop make it worth the price. The quality makes the price worth it! I almost went with a more expensive computer and different company; but am glad I went with an HP!!

It has extra wide screen. Some primitive application’s don’t work well on the ~2:1 aspect ratio.

HP Pavilion dv7-1270us Laptop User Review:

Pros:

Great spec’s for the price. FSB at 1066 MHz, Blu-ray, 4GB RAM. Fast Boot-up (once you delete all the preloaded junk). Unlike the other reviewers, I actually really like the color. Lots of USB ports. This laptop does not get hot after hours of use.

I used the blu-ray once and it worked fine. I think I would enjoy it more when I hook it up to an HDTV. I’ve watched iTunes videos on it and hooked it up to my larger HP monitor. It works just as well. I truly don’t have any issues with it and I’m very pleased.

The screen is beautiful and ample. Colors are well defined and properly saturated. The nVidia 9600GT might not be able to play Crysis maxxed out, but it surely runs my favorite games in high with no overheating whatsoever. CPU (Perynn) with 1066Mhz FSB is (are) very snappy and and perform very well.

Real nice laptop. Owned a decent laptop prior to this one, but it doesn’t even compare to what this one has. All the controls are real responsive, nice quiet keyboard, and no dead pixels on the screen.

Cons:

5400RPM hard drive, still acceptable for me.

Finger print magnet.

Power jack is in a bad place, could use Right angle plug in instead.

Bluetooth and Wifi switch both in one touch button, you cant use one or the other.

The keyboards are hard to see especially with low light, especially numbers, a serious hassle.

HP Pavilion dv7-1270us Laptop Other Thoughts:

All in all it’s a great buy & you will not be sorry. Seriously folks, I can’t think of any reason why this wouldn’t be a perfect desktop replacement even at retail price.

Gamers, you won’t be disappointed! The Altec Lansing sound system with the 3D subwoofer and SRS premium sound is crystal clear at any volume! HP, you got something here! GRATS!

No operating system CD’s come with the package. There is a "Recovery" partition that contains about 12 GB of stuff (not 100% sure what exactly is on there)

The laptop comes preloaded with a ton of junk and is heavily integrated with Windows Live stuff. Messenger, Live toolbar, etc. It comes with a trial of Norton Internet Security and a trial of Office 2007. My advice: Get Norton off the computer ASAP and install another anti-virus product.

HP Pavilion dv5-1250us Laptop User Review:

Pros:

I like the graphics card with 512 megs dedicated, the 2 AMD Turion 64 bit processors, the 4 gig RAM, the 400 meg drive.

Extremely nice speakers. Works great with games and multi tasking. I always go on the internet while playing online games and this computer hasn’t failed me like my past laptops.

The HP Pavilion dv5-1250us laptop is fast and multitasks like no other, easy to start up.

This laptop runs smooth, runs the games that i would plan to play on my laptop other than my gaming rig

Play Games On High Settings fast. Amazing 400 gb harddrive and very useful for everything.

This laptop is really good at multitasking since it has a fast processor and 4GB of ram. Windows vista runs very smooth and quick to react. Brightness of screen is good and the colors look great! CD drive is relatively quiet and fast. HDMI out picture looks sounds and works flawlessly. Laptop has a really nice design and color scheme. All the LEDs are white and orange and look really nice with the bronze finish. Overall this laptop is a great laptop and has enough resources to meet almost anyone’s computing requirements.

Cons:

Hate the keyboard the keys are bronze and the letters numbers etc, are light black! you have to be in perfect lighting to see them. Would be no problem if you are a touch typist and never need to see the keys. wish they lit up or were silver white anything but what color they are.

The HP Pavilion dv5-1250us laptop is a terrific computer, but has an extremely strange flaw. The keyboard is illegible. You have to strain your eyes to see the letters and characters printed in light grey on a grey background.

The keys themselves are a bronze color and the key symbol is black. It makes it virtually impossible to see what the keys are. An unbelievably stupid design decision. Having read S.K.’s review, I thought that maybe the keyboard is back lit, thus making it easy to see which keys are which. The keyboard isn’t back lit. Even with good over head light, the keyboard is very difficult to read. I know I tried.

The touch sensitive buttons on the laptop can sometimes be a little too sensitive and are not always 100% accurate.

HP Pavilion dv5-1250us Laptop Other Thoughts:

About screen tilt. The screen does not lay completely flat like other laptops I’ve had in the past. This one goes back to about a 120 degree angle. I sometimes use an external screen with a laptop so need something which can lay flat and not get in the way of the external screen while I use the laptop keyboard in front of it.

About screen glare. Gone are the days, it seems, when laptops came with a readable, easy on the eye, matt finish LCD screen. This laptop, like so many I looked at, has a highly reflective plastic coating which completely covers the screen. Yes, it will protect the screen but the reflections it picks up from everything else to the sides and behind you are incredibly distracting. If I’d wanted a mirror, I’d have bought a mirror.

I like blasting my music and pressing this cute little remote that came with it

Highly Recommended…for the price you will get a computer that plays games on good settings and very fast as an entertainment system.

HP Pavilion dv4-1220us Laptop User Review:

Pros:

Runs cool and quiet for a AMD. Graphics are great. I have CS source and DOOM 3 they play great. well built and strong but not heavy. good for traveling.

The Touchpad is different but once I got used to it I like it. Was pleasantly surprised with outside case.

Small and stylish compared to most in this price range. Has a decent processor and graphics card. Laptop speakers are well above average in quality and loudness compared to most laptops.

Runs smoothly(most of the time). Cool light up HP emblem on cover, GOLD!!! (all over&keyboard). Lots of RAM!! =) DirectX 10 support, and WINDOWS VISTA 64BIT Edition!

Cheap at the old price. 4Gig RAM. Wireless N

The HDMI and eSTAT is great for price

Nice bronze color

Cons:

You can’t see lables/alphabets on keyboard clearly (because of bronze color) specially during night time…

The battery life is short.. maybe an hour and a half even when it in the recommended power save mode.

The quick touch panel is handy but the hp ‘quickplay’ button is a bit of a pain. It’s very easy to accidentally hit this button and make the computer stop what it’s doing to launch that program.

HP Pavilion dv4-1220us Laptop Other Thoughts:

Have a notebook cooler on hand, especially if watching videos(even online). Consider buying a stronger battery for travel or if not planning to use next to power source. Also battery seems to dye slowly when not connected to power when the computer is off. Maybe, just maybe after the "Burn in" period it might get a little less hot.

It took hours to create the 3 DVD recovery discs. Why HP couldn’t spend the few bucks to include them?

I noticed alot of people calling the touchpad a con. It does have a wierd feel because it’s metal with a glossy coating, but it works well, imo.

The HP Pavilion dv4-1220us is a great laptop. I’ve owned 2 other HP notebooks before this one and this is definitely the best one. Lots of pros with really only one major con (battery life).
